Our approach

How we research rental providers.

We collect prices, equipment details and rental terms from provider websites. Here’s what we check, what we show and what still needs confirming.

We start with the provider.

Our guides cover 381 cities and towns with 869 location-specific provider listings from 341 provider businesses. We read suppliers’ own rental pages, equipment descriptions, policies and service-area information, and link to those sources. Local assistance entries use the organizations’ own information.

We summarize public information. We have not called every supplier, inspected rental equipment, tested the beds or checked live inventory. A date beside a listing means its public sources were reviewed, not that the equipment is available.

The details stay attached to the price.

We preserve the supplier’s published billing period. We do not turn a 28-day price into a monthly price or assume that a mattress, delivery or pickup is included. When a source is unclear, the listing says to request a quote.

Where a provider publishes conflicting information, we flag the discrepancy. Published capacity figures are provider claims; confirm the exact manufacturer model and applicable patient and total-load limits.

Being listed is not a recommendation.

Providers are presented for comparison, not ranked by clinical suitability or a quality score. We do not invent star ratings, customer testimonials or verification badges. A provider’s service area may include a city while delivery to a particular address still needs approval.

Independent research. Direct booking.

Avela is a rental research guide. We do not supply equipment, arrange delivery, take bookings or collect payment. Contact the provider to confirm availability, suitability, insurance billing and the full contract.

Our guides include source-based equipment comparisons and practical planning tools. They do not claim hands-on testing or clinical review. Our published-price report discloses its selected sample, deduplication, original review dates and exclusions; it is not a representative national survey.

No affiliate tracking or paid placement is active in this release. If commercial relationships are added, affected links and placements will be identified. Payment will not replace the factual research criteria described here.

Helpful illustrations, clearly labeled.

Family, room and category bed photographs are AI-generated illustrations. They are labeled as illustrative and do not show a supplier’s actual inventory. Where a supplier photograph is used, it is identified and linked to its source. A photograph does not establish the model, accessories or equipment included in a rental; confirm these with the supplier.

Local depth before more locations.

A city guide needs multiple identifiable rental providers, actual advertised bed options, source links, local rental or delivery details, and clearly stated unknowns before it is included. We add locations when there is enough useful, sourced information to help someone arrange a rental. A city listing is not a promise of live availability.

Report an outdated detail. Include the page and a current source when possible. We check corrections against supplier or organization information before updating a listing; a submitted correction is not automatically published.
