A listed rental price does not tell you what insurance will cover. Ask your plan what it pays for and check whether the supplier can bill it.
Start with the prescription and supplier
Medicare Part B may cover a medically necessary hospital bed prescribed for use at home. Medicare requires an enrolled supplier. Ask whether the supplier accepts assignment for your equipment and for every rental month.
Ask about your own costs
Under Original Medicare, after the Part B deductible, the usual share is 20% of the Medicare-approved amount when the supplier accepts assignment. Your circumstances, other coverage and the equipment supplied can affect what you owe. Obtain an individual estimate.
Do not assume every listing bills insurance
Some suppliers operate private-pay rental programs. Ask whether they bill your plan directly, require approval before delivery, or only provide a receipt. An invoice for reimbursement is not a promise that a plan will pay.
If you have Medicare Advantage or another plan
Contact your plan about network suppliers, authorization, covered equipment and your cost share. Tell the supplier which plan you use and request confirmation before delivery. A rental price shown on this site is a supplier’s published private-pay information unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Sources & approach
Based on linked supplier, manufacturer and public-agency information. This is source-based research, not hands-on testing or a clinical assessment. Confirm current equipment, terms and availability with the supplier; discuss equipment suitability with your care team.
